BOOK REVIEW: UNDER THE INFLUENCE by Jacquelyn Lee

Have you ever been into a situation where you find no option but crying  .... crying out so quietly and alone in the silence of the night because you are stabbed by the knife several times in your chest by so many people that you prefer building up walls around yourself with the sole aim of not allowing anyone to enter in and ever hurt you again? You lay still and motionless , but your heart throbs faster than usual, your blood rushes within, thoughts jumble up in your mind
and you feel absolutely burdened and blame yourself for everything you've been through, but it's not just you who blames yourself but also your peers. Until you decide to stand and fight for yourself and you no longer blame yourself for what you've been through, nor do you allow others to do so.
But what next? You need to get your sorrows out of your chest but don't find it comfortable to speak it out in front of your peers/pals/loved ones.  It's then when some people decide to pen down their sorrows/hardships.  Believe me it's not easy but definitely not impossible.  As we all know paper is more patient than people. So today I get to you with one  such true story written by the victim herself in her book UNDER THE INFLUENCE by Jacquelyn Lee .

 LANGUAGE: English
PUBLISHER: SELF PUBLISHED(by createspace independent publishing platform )

PAGES:   150
GENRE:   NON- FICTION,MEMOIR
PLOT/SUMMARY  : This story revolves around the life of Jacquelyn a teenager and her 3 siblings  who have faced a lot of hardships and problems along with domestic violence and abuse. They were raised in the absence of a mother and under the influence of an alcoholic father and his toxic family.  Jacquelyn has faced abuse in many ways such as emotional, verbal and
Physical.  It was only when they were rescued by her mother's sister that they could live a so called normal life . It was then when her loved ones asked her to write down her story and she did.
OVERVIEW/MY OPINION: To be honest, this book has left me in tears. The author has expressed her sorrows deeply and beautifully in the form of Poetry and verses. This book left me speechless and in awe of her, I felt  a very deep and emotional connection with her. I could relate to so much of her feelings, anxiety and other problems. The writing style of this author is pretty impressive.  This book is a must read for everyone, even if you haven't been a victim of domestic violence/abuse because it gives you an insight into their world and life.
MY RATING: 5/5
