HOW TO DEVELOP THE HABIT OF READING IN YOUR KIDS , part of #thebookblogtrain

With the vacations round the corner I'm sure most of the Reader mom's want their kids to explore the magic of books, Probably everyone knows the benefits of reading and hence this post will definitely assist you with developing the habit of reading in your children.

1) HABITS ARE CAUGHT NOT TAUGHT

Just as values, habits too are caught by kids. They'll imitate whatever you do & hence in order to develop the habit of reading in your kids, you yourself should be an avid reader. You may read books of any genre and of any language, but read! You'll surely see that your kids will begin to imitate you.

2) INDULGE INTO BOOKISH CONVERSATIONS :

While having dinner or snacks with your family don't just talk about movies, politics ,gossips, food , etc. Try & indulge into some bookish conversations. eg. Have you heard about this new children's fantasy book series that has been published last week? Shall we give it a try?

3) PAY A VISIT TO THE BOOKSTORE:

Instead of simply browsing for books on amazon, try and take your kids to the bookstore, teach them to experience the magic of the store & the pleasure which going through the pages of the book. You can also take them to the bookstore instead of taking the to the gaming centre on sunday. With this you get to spend quality time with your kids & also teach them the ethics of book shopping.

4) INSTALL A SMALL BOOKSHELF ON THE WALL:

Apart from your regular home decor, try and install a small bookshelf on the wall. Encourage your kids to fill in more books in that shelf.

5) READ ALONG :
Decide the time during  the day when you and kids will read along for a certain duration of time. This will strengthen your bond & encourage you and your kids to read more , plus you'll even have a reading partner for yourself!

So that's it guys, hope you liked the post. Do try them out to infuse the habit of reading in your kids.  Let me know your thoughts over my post and don't forget to subscribe to my blog so that you be notified everytime i post something new! (I post daily)

  14. With so much to gain, cultivating the habit of reading is undoubtedly one of the most important gifts a parent can give a child. However, while reading comes naturally for some children, it may be a tough nut to crack for others.
