Hello there everyone, thank you for giving this post your time.  I apologise for not being able to post since the past 3 months due to my exams.  But i assure you that the days ahead are gonna be filled with lots of articles and reviews. 
I'm back today with another book review Entitled AMMA AND I by TRISHNA DAMODAR.

So, when a proposal from someone in France came along, she jumped at the opportunity, hoping that this would give her daughter a chance at a bigger and better life. Maya, so lost in her own world, was unaware of certain shadows that lurked in her own backyard. What hides behind the constant smile on Kripa’s face? Read the journey of Kripa and Maya, set in the 1970’s, as they struggle to be heard in a society that is fixed in its norms.



OVERVIEW/ MY OPINION:

Considering the fact that this book was my very first read of the year, I really wanted it to be a really lovely and memorable one, I must say that it definitely fulfilled my desires!

This story is set up in 1970, in a small village in kerala, the story revolves around Maya, her mother kripa and Ashok. This book truly gave me that inspiration to travel to kerala and experience the beautiful scenic beauty of God's own country, all thanks to the author for having such a wonderful writing style that kept me engaged throughout the story!
I like the way the story is developed, right from the beginning till the end all the important details are taken care of, it was wonderful to learn about the lifestyle, customs and  traditions  of the people in kerala during that era.

The narration too was done quite well, the character development too was on point, i could connect very well with Maya. I loved the concept of these two women who stand up for their rites, inspite of facing the strong oppositions. The story even potrays the development of maya from a meek, shy girl to a confident and a bold woman despite the fact that in those days the position of women was inferior and their job was only confined to the kitchen and the upbringing of their children.


I also loved the way the author has carved the relationships in this book, every relationship is given its own respective space and time to grow, nothing seemed like a fairy tale, it was all pretty realistic.

The language was easy going and lucid, the cover is designed sceptically keeping in mind the interest of a reader and the title is chosen appropriately keeping in mind the curiosity of a reader.  This was a real quick read though the story is a slow paced one.

Overall, this was a very interesting  and an easy going read, I had a really wonderful experience with this book.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
